Guadalest ligt op ongeveer een 50 minuten rijden van Relleu. Het unieke aan Guadalest is dat het dorp op prachtige wijze in de rotsen geïntegreerd is. Het bijna duizend jaar oude dorp is geheel gesitueerd rondom het kasteel. Het kasteel, simpelweg El Castell de Guadalest genaamd, is jarenlang een belangrijk verdedigingspunt geweest van de Moren tegen de Spanjaarden. Omdat Guadalest alleen via een uit de rotsen uitgehakte ingang te bereiken was en het kasteel torens had die als een kraaiennest boven de rotsen uitstaken was het eenvoudig te verdedigen. Vanaf het begin van de zeventiende eeuw zwaaien de Spanjaarden de scepter in Guadalest. In de loop der eeuwen is het dorpje uitgedijd tot buiten de natuurlijke grens die door de rotsen bepaald werd. De meeste bezienswaardigheden bevinden zich echter nog steeds binnen de oude kern van Guadalest. Noemenswaardig zijn behalve het kasteel het sfeervolle marktplein, het stadhuis en de in barokstijl gebouwde kerk. Museumliefhebbers kunnen twee musea bezoeken. Wie Guadalest bezoekt, krijgt tevens een fraai uitzicht op het in de vorige eeuw aangelegde stuwmeer, dat al jarenlang een groot deel van de provincie Alicante van drinkwater voorziet. Wie Guadalest wil bezoeken zal er rekening mee moeten houden dat er nogal wat hoogteverschillen te overbruggen zijn. Op 35 minuten rijden van Relleu. Dit is een gigantisch safaripark (1.500.000m2) waar de dieren in alle vrijheid kunnen leven, net zoals ze dat zouden kunnen in de vrije natuur. Je rijdt door het park met je eigen auto, onder begeleiding van een parkwachter, die af en toe stopt om de dieren te voeden en je uitleg geeft over de dieren. In het Spaans maar als je het vraagt, ook in het Engels. Let op; er zijn maar 2 voedingsmomenten per dag, vraag bij ons om meer info. De dieren die je zal zien zijn o.a.: leeuwen, tijgers, olifanten, nijlpaarden, giraffen, antilopes, kangoeroes, bizons enz.! Er is ook een klein dierentuintje aangrenzend aan het park waar je op vertoon van je inkomticket voor het safaripark ook binnen kan. Hier zitten wat kleinere, maar zeker even interessante dieren. Hoewel het kasteel meer dan 1.000 jaar oud is, is het goed bewaard gebleven en grotendeels intact. De oudste overblijfselen die er nu nog liggen, stammen uit de 11de, 12de en 13de eeuw. Een groot deel van het kasteel werd pas na de middeleeuwen bijgebouwd. Het kasteel werd lange tijd voor militaire doeleinden gebruikt en sommige delen dienden af en toe als gevangenis. Je ontdekt ruïnes van de oorspronkelijke kerk, een grote gracht en imposante kanonnen die de stad moesten beschermen. Binnen de muren van het kasteel vind je een uitkijktoren, kerkers en een paleis. De toren hangt over een klif en geeft je een adembenemend zicht op de haven van Alicante. De makkelijkste rit naar boven gaat via de lift. Je bereikt de lift via een 205 meter lange wandeltunnel waarvan de ingang zich aan Calle Jovellanos ligt. De toegang tot het kasteel is gratis, voor de lift wordt wel een vergoeding gevraagd. Desde principios del siglo XVII, los españoles han gobernado Guadalest. A lo largo de los siglos, el pueblo se ha expandido más allá del límite natural definido por las rocas. Sin embargo, la mayoría de los lugares de interés todavía se encuentran dentro del antiguo núcleo de Guadalest. Además del castillo, destacan la atractiva plaza del mercado, el ayuntamiento y la iglesia construida en estilo barroco. Los amantes de los museos pueden visitar dos museos.
